Young Armenian Artist Wins Holocaust Painting Competition

ARMENPRESS - The painting titled Broken Childhood by young Armenian artist Mikayel Harutyunyan won the first prize at the 9th international contest dedicated to Holocaust. The competition was held on January 26 in Moscow. About 1200 participants from 8 countries participated in the event.

In a conversation with “Armenpress”, the 17-years old artist stated that the Jewish community of Armenia informed him about the contest. “This was the first time Armenia participated in the event. Everybody had a very positive attitude towards Armenia and the Armenian people. We stressed that denial of the Armenian Genocide led to Holocaust,” Harutyunyan concluded.
